Album Reviews: Nicholas WardA New Love For Music, Volume I, 2003 Nicholas Ward hit the nail dead on the head with the description on the back of his new CD, A New Love For Music, Volume I. He said that this CD is a mix of acoustic guitar driven folk music, some bluesy rocky music, contemporary worship, some hymns, and traditional Celtic. I found this particular collection to be very creative worship and praise for this generation. Ward has captured the youthful yet powerful sounds of this age. The CD's strongest cuts are 3 through 8. "Give Hope" is a light-hearted praise song which gives the aura of a carnival, sounding almost Latin in its joy and celebration. "We Will Praise You" is an excellent modern praise song done very well. "Just You And Me" is a personal conversation between Nicholas and the Lord, and will lead the listener into a heartfelt intimacy with Jesus, as well. "More of You" is an awesome prayer song: Lord, all I want is more of you Cut 9, "Yahweh" features dreamy worship designed to draw you into the holy presence of the Lord. It's really cool the way this song echoes itself throughout in Messianic form. This CD is not for everybody. It is not your grandmother's worship praise and worship music. It is very raw and refreshing, and straight from the heart. While modern, though, it does not go over the edge and become performance rock. This is an enhanced CD that features lyrics, chords, overheads, and video which may be used as tools to help use this music in corporate worship; however, a license from Christian Copyright Licensing Inc. is required. --Jeff Tyler of Night Watch Ministries for CelticChristianTunes.com |
